For my App Review I decided to review WHITEHOUSE.GOV because I think it is very important to know the current events going on in the world. WHITEHOUSE.GOV is a great source of current events. It has everything from blogs and videos to photos and newsrooms.If you want to be updated in whats happening in the world then you should defiantly download this free app.

My Fist picture is a snapshot of the daily posted blogs. These blogs are useful because you get the real glimpse of the decisions made in the White House. I check these blogs on a daily basis because they are not to long and easy to read for someone whose around the ages of 9-14. If you want to know whats going on in the world in fun, exciting blogs than you should check out the blog section on WHITEHOUSE.GOV.

I really like the video section on WHITEHOUSE.GOV because I am able to watch live chats. The video section is fun and easy to use. If you don’t know what video your about to watch you can press the little blue arrow and it will lead you to a screen with the heading of the video in blue and a summary of the video. I enjoy the videos because I get to actually see real conversations and speeches.

When you don’t want to look at the blogs you can look at the newsroom. The newsroom is all factual and has nobodies opinions like the blog. If you go to the newsroom section and read a article, you will be reading nothing but the truth. Sometimes I want the straight forward truth on whats happening in the world and that’s why I like the newsroom section.

This picture is a picture of the picture links that when you click on them it leads to real pictures. I like the picture section because sometimes when don’t feel like reading and you just want to look at pictures. The pictures also come with information about what was going on when the picture took place. The pictures are useful because now you can get a visual look at what goes on in the White House.

     The only thing I would change about WHITEHOUSE.GOV would be the page layout when you click on a section. I do not like how small the font is. This app is appropriate for children around the ages of 9-14. It is appropriate for anyone who is interested in current events. I would defiantly recommend this free app to anyone who is interested in a good read of current events.

IHOMEWORK by hoh

Grade: All ages
Cost: $0.99
Platform: iOS (iPod touch, iPad, iPhone)

      iHomework is a very useful and helpful app. If you are having trouble keeping track of your daily schedule, or for students writing down assignments. It also helps keep track of the books your reading, reminders, teachers of yours, and your grades that you receive on projects, test, quizzes, and more. This is what iHomework is about.

This app is very simple and easy to use. When you first open the app, it brings you to a monthly calender. In this calender you can put in upcoming events and assignments. When you put your event in the calender, you can set an alert or alarm to remind you that you have something in minutes, hours, and even days.

The next section of this app is reading. You can put the books that your reading, author, and for students, assignments that you have to do for the book. If your a big reader, and you have to keep track of all the books your reading or have read, get iHomework.

The next section of the app is reminders. In this you can add appointments, meetings, and events. This is very useful section, because instead of going through your whole calender looking to see when your appointment is, you can just click on reminders and look at them. This is one out of the many cool features in iHomework.

After you see reminders, you can go to the icon that is green with an apple. This icon stands for courses. In courses you can add classes that you have to go to, what day, what teacher, and a location. This part of the app is very helpful for college students as well as high school students.

The second to last section of the app is called teachers. You can put you teachers name, email, phone number, and notes about him and or her. You can also import the teachers information into your contact list. I can definitely see myself using it.

The last section is completed. When you put assignments that have to be done or completed, you can check the assignments off after it is due. Then if you click on completed, it shows all the work you have finished, and the grade you got.

Pricing: This app is just $0.99. Do you want to pay that $0.99? Well, I would. This app is useful in so many ways. I could just go on and on about all the pros that iHomework has. Such as, the price. Unlike other apps, iHomework is a cheap app. Some apps can range up to almost $10.00. Also, unlike other apps iHomework comes in HD for the iPad, without the price adding up. This is one more reason why I would buy this app.

Conclusion: This app is definitely worth the $0.99. I would recommend this app to all ages. Such as college students, high school students, middle school students, and even adults. If you are not an organized person, this is the app for you. It lays your whole schedule in a step by step order. This is why you should buy iHomework for only $0.99.

Penultimate By: CCR

App Review

Other than that it is a really good app and is very helpful and useful. It is a very useful app that is great to use.

I am at the home page and I have the option practice Spanish nouns, verbs, descriptives or Practice all of them together, or add your own Spanish/English word. I can go into learning Spanish by selecting one of my choices I have showed. When I have selected one of my choices a Spanish word pops up. I try to figure out what the word is and if I do or don’t, I click an icon that shows the word translated to English. Now I know what that Spanish word means. This helps me expand my Spanish vocabulary. I also can keep track of Spanish or English words that are translated in a dictionary on the app. All I have to do is click on the link, ADD YOUR OWN WORDS, and then two boxes pop up, one says word and one says word meaning. Its like me making my own Spanish/English dictionary. This helps me keep track of words I want to remember which can be very useful for someone learning Spanish.
<span style="font-size: 12pt; More than half of those people don’t have any idea what is in their cup of coffee. That is why I chose the Starbucks app. I chose this app because it tells you what is in Starbucks’s products. For an example it tells you how many calories, the amount of sugar, fat, sodium, etc. This app could help viewers of all ages determine what the healthy choices are when they go to Starbucks.
For an example, if you look up an original cup of coffee in the coffee section of this app(shown in the picture above) it gives you all the information you need to know about that product. It tells you what season the drink is available, the nutrition facts, and it gives you a summary on how the drink was made. This app could be useful when your buying a product and you need to know what is in it.

If you are looking for a job at Starbucks this app can also help. When you click on the jobs button in the bottom right hand corner, it brings up a page that tells you all about working at Starbucks. You can follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and watch videos about Starbucks jobs on YouTube.
This app also gives you location information. It shows you were the closest Starbucks is to you. As shown in the picture above, the blue pin point is were you are located, and the green pin points are were the closest Starbucks are.

This app is free and it is worth the download.

I think this Starbucks app is very helpful. It gives you a lot of information about Starbucks’s products, store locations, and jobs. This is a great app but one thing I think they need to fix is their job section. It tells a lot about what the jobs at Starbucks are like, but it doesn’t give any information about what stores are in need of employees. Over all this is a great and easy app and you should consider downloading it.

Shazam by: C.K.H.

This app is all about music. Say you’re at your local Starbucks or another place outside of your home and a song you like is playing on the radio. You really like this song and you want to buy it on itunes, but you don’t know what the name of it is. This is where the app Shazam comes in. You can Shazam the song playing and it will tell you what the song is called, who it’s by, year it was released, and even more.

The 1st screen that shows up is when you record the music that you want to be recognized. This will take about forty five seconds for the device to cleary recognize the song. For this section to work, you need to be in a semi-quiet enviroment so that the recorder will clearly hear the music. This is the most important section of the whole app because if this does not work, you will not be able to identify the music that you are trying to record.

This is the second screen. This screen will appear with the name of the song that you recorded if it records successfully. If the recording works it will show you when the album and song were released. Also, If you rotate your device, it will show up with a list of all the songs you have shazamed previously over the months. Lastly, if you click on the small blue play button, a fraction of the song will play for you.

Once you get to the second screen, if you click on the button labeled “This artist” the screen above will show up. This section basicly puts the artist’s life together in a couple of short paragraphs. Also, if you click on the button labeled “This song” it will give you more information about the song, and why it’s written or who it’s based on.

Also, On the second screen you will find a button named similar tracks at the top right of the screen. If you click on this, you will find a list of tracks that are similar to the track you just recorded. I find this part of the app very fasinating because it gives you a list of music you can listen to in less than a minute.

Another neat thing you can do with the results of your recording is that you can share it. You can share it to twitter, facebook, or you can send the results to your email. I found this section really cool. If you wanted to remember a song you shazamed, you can email the song, and when you open your email you can find the song’s name.

Shazam is a free app. Personally, if I were the creator of this app, I would have made it $0.99 or maybe even more! I think this app is defenitely worth $0.99 or even more.

I do not think this app does not need any improvements. It is a very helpful app, and I use it all the time! This app is apropriate for any age group, and is very useful for everyone! Shazam is great, and it will work on any apple device that you can purchase apps on. I hope you like this app just as much as I love it!

Days Until By: M.
This is the main screen of your device. The tiny red dot in the corner can stand for what you want. (Out of the choices of course.) They can stand for the number of events in the next ten days, or the number of days to the nearest event. Or you can choose not to have it there at all.

(second screenshot)

This is the home page. The nice thing about this is that you can change the bars(the bars have the name of the event and the picture next to it) to small medium and large. Also, when you add in a new event(click on the “+” sign in the top left corner), it adds it in order to the days until the event or project is due closest events at the top, and furthest events at the bottom.

    (third screenshot)
     This is the screenshot of the edit page. When you click on the bars, it comes up with the screen of the event (below) but if you want to edit it, this is where you would do that. Also, when you add a new event, this is the page that you go to to create that event.

(fourth screenshot)

One of the choices that you have when you design this screen, is whether you want summary font or detailed font.In the lower left hand corner, is the back button. If you click on it, it takes you back to the page with all of your events(the second screenshot). If you click on the button in the lower right hand corner, it takes you back to the edit page.

Cost Review

This app is free, so if you look at this review and decide to get it, but then realize that you don’t need it, it doesn’t waste any money. Many times, if you buy an app and then realize that you either don’t like it or never use it, it is hard to delete because you don’t want to waste any money.

Conclusion
To improve this app, I would let people choose more fonts, thickness of the font, and more font color choices. This app would be appropriate for anybody with a busy schedule or people who like to know how many days they have until a birthday or an event. I would defiantly get this app if I didn’t have it!

Scramble By: ZL

Date= March 15th, 2011
Grade= 7th grade
Cost= FREE
Platform= works for iTouch, iPhone, and iPad
Name= ZL

     The app that I reviewed as my choice was scramble. This app is a great app because it is a good educational game and, a lot of fun. This fabulous app is free and a a good choice of games when you are bored or in search of something to exercise your brain, instead of playing games with no educational value.

     As you enter the application, it had four options of your choice; solo, pass and play, challenge, and play online. All these buttons will take you to different sections of the app. First, solo.

This is what pops up when you click the “solo” button. It takes you to a screen with scrambled letters. On the lower left hand side of the screen there is a number that indicates what your high score is. The goal of this game is to find as many words as possible with the letters on the screen. Here is the catch. The word that you spell has to be with words that connect.

Now on to play and pass. That part of the app is very similar to the single player version except that in the lower left it says which player’s turn it is. Whoever has the highest number of words, wins. This is fun because rather than racing yourself, you race others.

Now to the “challenge” section. The challenge section requires wi-fi to take part in. Its almost like facebook. You can friend people and then challenge your friends online to a game of scramble, which is similar to pass and play except you can play from long distances.

Lastly, online. Online is also neat because you get together online with random people and test your skill against theirs. It is once again the same as the other features. The whole idea of online is to play others rather than yourself. This is a neat feature because it can get very boring playing yourself and even challenging your friends can get boring.

In conclusion, I would say that the age range for this would be from ten to around ninety-nine. Its always fun, once you are old enough to understand it. Lastly I believe that this is a very good choice for an app. It’s free. It’s fun! The perfect combo.

For example, you might have a Shakespeare assignment where you would need to find a quote. Instead of using the Internet, you can just search up Shakespeare on the homepage and find all the quotes available on this app.
     Famous Quotes is very simple and effective. When you open up the app, it shows a screen of a random quote. To view other quotes, swipe your finger to the right on the screen. If you find a quote that you like,you can favorite it by pressing the star in the top right corner. To revisit your favorites, press the home button and click favyys.
Your favorite quotes will come up in the order that you added them to your list Also in the home screen, you can look at quotes spoken by specific people by either searching the name or scrolling on the list of names. I only wish that the searched titles were in easier categories. But other than that, this app is very nice. Many people would like this including students within a range of fifth grade to college.
