Siri By: AH

 Age Group: All ages
Cost: Free
Platform: iPod Touch, iPhone

Siri is a personal assistant app. I chose to review it because it is very useful and can help with a number of things. You can ask it many different questions such as: Good restaurants, movies, businesses, events, and much, much more. You can either type your question or, if your device has a microphone, simple ask it. It can also give you reminders and even post things on your Twitter account.

After you open up the app, it goes to this screen. It gives you the option to either type your question or say it. It also gives prompts or options for you to pick from if one of your questions or requests apply. At the bottom of the page are different options to help you better understand the app. If you scroll down and click more, it shows even more general prompts for you to choose.

If you click on my stuff, it will show you your saved reminders, reservations to restaurants, and and places you just wanted to remember. This section also allows you to edit your profile. You can edit your saved locations (work, home, etc.) and change your password or email.

If you click the bar on the home page to type your request, you get this screen. Then, you are able to type your request or tap one of the choices below. It will typically give you multiple answers if you ask a question. In the example above (first screen shot), my question was very specific so it only gave me one answer. They will be based on your location and relevancy to the question. I cannot give a review of the section where you speak your request because I do not have a microphone, but from what I understand it is pretty much the same.

On the home screen, you also have the choice to go to the help section. There, you can find many helpful tips and tutorials so you can better understand how to use the app. There are things like a video introduction, guidelines for the things you can ask Siri, and a few other useful sections.

Price is not really an issue for this app; it’s free. It is definitely very useful and I would highly recommend getting it.

I do not have many suggestions for this app. For me it has been very useful and works well. My only recommendation would be to have a slightly wider range of questions or requests you can ask. This app is appropriate for almost anyone, but I would recommend ages 9 and up. This is only because I don’t think anyone under that age would have any use for it. In my opinion, the people who would be likely to get the most use out of this app is busy adults who need to get a lot done. I have found this app to be excellent, and would definitely recommend getting it.
