The app I am reviewing is called Shazam. This app is all about music. Say you’re at your local Starbucks or another place outside of your home and a song you like is playing on the radio. You really like this song and you want to buy it on itunes, but you don’t know what the name of it is. This is where the app Shazam comes in. You can Shazam the song playing and it will tell you what the song is called, who it’s by, year it was released, and even more.
The 1st screen that shows up is when you record the music that you want to be recognized. This will take about forty five seconds for the device to cleary recognize the song. For this section to work, you need to be in a semi-quiet enviroment so that the recorder will clearly hear the music. This is the most important section of the whole app because if this does not work, you will not be able to identify the music that you are trying to record.
This is the second screen. This screen will appear with the name of the song that you recorded if it records successfully. If the recording works it will show you when the album and song were released. Also, If you rotate your device, it will show up with a list of all the songs you have shazamed previously over the months. Lastly, if you click on the small blue play button, a fraction of the song will play for you.
Once you get to the second screen, if you click on the button labeled “This artist” the screen above will show up. This section basicly puts the artist’s life together in a couple of short paragraphs. Also, if you click on the button labeled “This song” it will give you more information about the song, and why it’s written or who it’s based on.
Also, On the second screen you will find a button named similar tracks at the top right of the screen. If you click on this, you will find a list of tracks that are similar to the track you just recorded. I find this part of the app very fasinating because it gives you a list of music you can listen to in less than a minute.
Another neat thing you can do with the results of your recording is that you can share it. You can share it to twitter, facebook, or you can send the results to your email. I found this section really cool. If you wanted to remember a song you shazamed, you can email the song, and when you open your email you can find the song’s name.
Shazam is a free app. Personally, if I were the creator of this app, I would have made it $0.99 or maybe even more! I think this app is defenitely worth $0.99 or even more.
I do not think this app does not need any improvements. It is a very helpful app, and I use it all the time! This app is apropriate for any age group, and is very useful for everyone! Shazam is great, and it will work on any apple device that you can purchase apps on. I hope you like this app just as much as I love it!
Shazam
