Shazam By: B. F.

App Review for Shazam

    Date: March 10th, 2011
    Age: All ages
    Cost: Free
    Platform: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad

I chose this app because when I hear a song I like on the radio, I usually want to buy it.
This app is a music app. It works when you put your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad up to a speaker when it is in a middle of a song. Shazam scans it and then finds the name of the song, artist, album, genre, and label. Then, if you really like the song you can touch ‘iTunes’ and then it will link you to iTunes to buy it.
First, touch the app on your home screen to apply the app. Your screen would look like this:
When you first open it up, it loads. It takes about 10 seconds to load. If it doesn’t load, which rarely happens, just exit out and try it again.

Once you get to the main menu, it should say ‘tag’ on the top right. Touch it and then put your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad speakers up to the other speakers that is playing music.

A circle will be moving around another circle. That means it’s tagging, so just wait a couple seconds for it to find the song.
Once you find the song, your screen would look like the photo up top, accept it would be a different song that you tagged. Then if you want to buy it, just touch where it says ‘iTunes’ and it would then bring you to iTunes.
This app is free, so cost is not a problem. But, you only get to tag 3 songs per month. If you want to tag as many songs as you want, you would have to get Shazam Encore, but that costs money. Shazam Encore costs $5.99.

I think this app is a very good app because you can tag songs for free. The down side is, is that you can only tag 3 songs a month. This app, I think, is appropriate for all ages. Shazam is a great app to use, and I recommend people to get it because you never know when you will hear a good song you like!
