Google Earth By: B M

App Review

Date: 3/10/11
Grade: All ages
Cost: Free
Platform: iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

One of the most used apps on a computer is Google Earth. On Google Earth, you can explore the world, and search for anything on the planet and get an exact image of it. Now it is available on iPod Touches, iPhones, and iPads. This free and fun app is enjoyed by people of all ages.
This is the home screen of Google Earth, showing the Earth. You can rotate it around to help you find where you want to go. It is a satellite view of the Earth from space. The magnifying glass in the top left corner is where you search the location. The compass in the top right corner is a compass that shows what direction you’re facing. If you touch the symbol in the bottom left corner, Google Earth will locate exactly where you are and show you. The i on the bottom right corner is an instructions button, which I will explain later.
This is a satellite view of the Willis Tower in Chicago, Illinois. There are many symbols that send you to a deeper explanation of what you’re looking at. It is very lifelike, and it almost feels like you’re looking at the actual Willis Tower.
This is another satellite photo. It shows a zoomed out picture of the area that Mount Everest, Nepal is in. The yellow lines are borders of countries or states. The water on the bottom is based on how high the waves usually are.
This is a screenshot of the instructions/settings. It always you to change the symbols that appear on the place of what you’re seeing. It also allows you to turn off and on the terrain and the autotilt. You can also add your Maps account and clear your history.

Most people would think that this app is at least a dollar. No, this app is free, which is great because it shows you everything you would want to see on the planet.

This app is a great app that is used by many people, for fun or educational purposes. I have very few suggestions for improvement, but one is that I think that they should add three-dimensional buildings. I recommend this app to anyone, kids or adults, who love to explore and are interested in the world and geography.
