CountriesLE

I picked an app called CountriesLE.  This app is very useful and can help out in various classes as well.  I was interested in this app because I like geography and I’m good at it too.  This app also can help me learn about different countries for Social Studies class and I like just playing around with as well.

This is the home page for the app.  This is like the main menu or the desktop.  From this screen you can access the 11 parts to this app.  I am going to talk about four parts.  This part of the app really helps its organization and the app definitely wouldn’t work without this homepage.

This part of the app is a little article about each country. It has a list of countries or you can search for your country to find the particular one you are looking for.  Every country in the world is part of it so you can access tons of information.  As you can see it shows the flag, coast of arms, and a map of the country.  Also if you scroll down it has plenty of information like the capitol, population, official language, type of government, type of money and even the area in square miles or kilometers.  Also if you have Internet connection you can access the full Wikipedia article through a link at the bottom of the page.  This part of the app is extremely useful and I’ve learned loads of information from it.

Here, this part of the app has all the countries’ maps.  They are detailed and you can zoom in and out with them.  As you can see they show rivers, cities, areas and capitols.  Another useful part from this section of the app is that it shows the surrounding countries so you know what else is around it.  It also has a little scale so you can see how large the country is.  Also you can scroll from country to country in alphabetical order by swiping from one side to the other.

This next part of the app is one of the most useful and probably the one that I spend the most with.  This part is the quiz.  The quiz tests you on capitols, maps of the country, and flags.  You can take a quiz with all those categories or you can just do one of them.  So you can only be quizzed on flags or another one of the topics.  You can also do the quiz but only have the quiz ask you questions about a specific region or continent.  This means you can have any possibility of what it quizzes you on and the regions it asks you about.  When you are done with the quiz it shows you how many you got right, what you got right/wrong and your percentage correct.

This Part of the app is the continent maps.  This section has a large map of each continent and the north and south poles.  As you can see this is South America but you can also zoom in on each individual country and see all the cities, rivers, country borders, capitols and everything else that comes with a good map.  This part is effective because if I need to look at two countries that are near or next to each other this part fits my needs perfectly.

This app is free.

I really like this app and find it very useful.  I like it for all of its parts that let me access a lot of information.  I don’t think I have any recommendations for this app simply because I can’t find any problems with it.  This app is appropriate for anyone seeking information on different countries quickly.  I really like this app because it is free and everyone who likes finding out interesting information about different countries should definitely install it onto there device.
