WHITEHOUSE.GOV By: EK

App Review

For my App Review I decided to review WHITEHOUSE.GOV because I think it is very important to know the current events going on in the world.  WHITEHOUSE.GOV is a great source of current events.  It has everything from blogs and videos to photos and newsrooms. If you want to be updated in whats happening in the world then you should defiantly download this free app.

My Fist picture is a snapshot of the daily posted blogs.  These blogs are useful because you get the real glimpse of the decisions made in the White House.  I check these blogs on a daily basis because they are not to long and easy to read for someone whose around the ages of 9-14.  If you want to know whats going on in the world in fun, exciting blogs than you should check out the blog section on WHITEHOUSE.GOV.

I really like the video section on WHITEHOUSE.GOV because I am able to watch live chats.  The video section is fun and easy to use.  If you don’t know what video your about to watch you can press the little blue arrow and it will lead you to a screen with the heading of the video in  blue and a summary of the video.  I enjoy the videos because I get to actually see real conversations and speeches.

When you don’t want to look at the blogs you can look at the newsroom.  The newsroom is all factual and has nobodies opinions like the blog.  If you go to the newsroom section and read a article, you will be reading nothing but the truth.  Sometimes I want the straight forward truth on whats happening in the world and that’s why I like the newsroom section.

This picture is a picture of the picture links that when you click on them it leads to real pictures.  I like the picture section because sometimes when don’t feel like reading and you just want to look at pictures.  The pictures also come with information about what was going on when the picture took place.  The pictures are useful because now you can get a visual look at what goes on in the White House.

The only thing I would change about WHITEHOUSE.GOV would be the page layout when you click on a section.  I do not like how small the font is.  This app is appropriate for children around the ages of 9-14.  It is appropriate for anyone who is interested in current events.  I would defiantly recommend this free app to anyone who is interested in a good read of current events.

IHOMEWORK by hoh

 Grade: All ages
Cost: $0.99
Platform: iOS (iPod touch, iPad, iPhone)

iHomework is a very useful and helpful app.  If you are having trouble keeping track of your daily schedule, or for students writing down assignments.  It also helps keep track of the books your reading, reminders, teachers of yours, and your grades that you receive  on projects, test, quizzes, and more.  This is what iHomework is about.

This app is very simple and easy to use.  When you first open the app, it brings you to a monthly calender.  In this calender you can put in upcoming events and assignments.  When you put your event in the calender, you can set an alert or alarm to remind you that you have something in minutes, hours, and even days.

The next section of this app is reading.  You can put the books that your reading, author, and for students, assignments that you have to do for the book.  If your a big reader, and you have to keep track of all the books your reading or have read, get iHomework.

The next section of the app is reminders.  In this you can add appointments, meetings, and events.  This is very useful section, because instead of going through your whole calender looking to see when your appointment is, you can just click on reminders and look at them.  This is one out of the many cool features in iHomework.

After you see reminders, you can go to the icon that is green with an apple.  This icon stands for courses.  In courses you can add classes that you have to go to, what day, what teacher, and a location.  This part of the app is very helpful for college students as well as high school students.

The second to last section of the app is called teachers.  You can put you teachers name, email, phone number, and notes about him and or her.  You can also import the teachers information into your contact list.  I can definitely see myself using it.

The last section is completed.  When you put assignments that have to be done or completed, you can check the assignments off after it is due.  Then if you click on completed, it shows all the work you have finished, and the grade you got.

Pricing:   This app is just $0.99.  Do you want to pay that $0.99?  Well, I would.  This app is useful in so many ways.  I could just go on and on about all the pros that iHomework has.  Such as, the price.  Unlike other apps, iHomework is a cheap app.  Some apps can range up to almost $10.00.  Also, unlike other apps iHomework comes in HD for the iPad, without the price adding up.  This is one more reason why I would buy this app.

Conclusion:   This app is definitely worth the $0.99.  I would recommend this app to all ages.  Such as college students, high school students, middle school students, and even adults.  If you are not an organized person, this is the app for you.  It lays your whole schedule in a step by step order.   This is why you should buy iHomework for only $0.99.

Penultimate By: CCR

App Review

Do you ever feel like you don't have a place to write something down? Is typing on your mobile device hard for you? Then you should get pen ultimate. I am reviewing this app because I feel that it has been very helpful for me. You can save doodles, study for tests, save and print recipes, and take notes all while using your own handwriting!

When you first get on the Penultimate page, they guide you through the whole process of starting and adding notebooks.

They show you all of the basics of the app, and what the app can do. Even though this app is very simple, it is very helpful that they made a “welcome” notebook to show you all of the steps.

Once you finish following all of the steps, you may make a new notebook. It is very easy to make a new notebook, and requires little to no thinking!

When writing, it is super easy to make the pen big small and change the colors. There are a lot of standard colors and sizes, which allow variation when taking notes and doodling.

The pen is a bold and clear gel pen that allows for flawless handwriting. This app also includes a setting called “wrist guard”. This setting allows you to write without your wrist leaving marks too.

This is a very effective app, I have never run into a problem with this application. Being able to store and share all of your writing on your ipad is absolutely amazing. You have an infinite number of pages and notebooks you can create, so your possibilities are endless when using this app.

The cost of this app is $1.99 and well worth the money. This app has been so essential to me for taking notes, because I know that I can rely on it.

Penultimate is an absolutely essential app for anyone who needs to take notes, save recipes, or do anything of that sort. With Penultimate you can hand write things and send, print and save them! I do not think that penultimate needs to improve in any way. The app is incredibly stable and I have yet to run into a problem with it. This app is appropriate for any and all ages. I highly recommend this dependable, simple, essential app.

Microsoft Office by GDM

3/10/11
Grade: all ages
Cost: free
Platform: (Windows phone)

The Microsoft Office app for the Windows phone is a great app to have. It helps if you need to write a paper for a class, or power point and you don't have a computer with you. If you need to print the charger could be plugged into any computer. The app is already programed into the phone and is easy to use.
The Microsoft Office app is a very useful app. It is the same as Microsoft word and power point. It is a very simple app to use and you can save many documents. If you want to save the paper you typed on a computer the charging adapter can be hooked up into a computer like the iPhone.

Microsoft Office word is a document that you can type papers and notes. If you have a paper to type and you don't have a computer with you. You can open Word and type up a paper and print it at a computer that has a printer connected to it. It also has an auto correct if you spell any word wrong, you can change the font, and text size too. You can also highlight words that you want to highlight.

It also has a Power point document to make slide shows. You can get picture from the Internet and paste them on your phone. Than upload it onto the presentation. If you need to put in on your computer put the charging adapter in the computer and upload the presentation onto the computer.

The Microsoft Office is a really good app, but it is only for the Windows phone which is okay, but it would be better if was for the iPhone as well. It is a really good app, but the bad things about it is that it has some glitches and it has a small keyboard for typing. It is only bad if you have big finger. Other than that it is a really good app and is very helpful and useful. It is a very useful app that is great to use.

Spanish Lite By: CK

App Review

1.  Title

2.      Introduction
My app is an app that could educate people from late elementary school and up that are interested in studying Spanish.  This app is an app that teaches people Spanish vocabulary.  This Spanish can teach all kinds of Spanish vocabulary. On this app you can practice Spanish nouns, verbs, descriptives or all of them together.  You can also make your own Spanish/English dictionary.  This is a very helpful app to help people learn Spanish better.
3. I am at the home page and I have the option practice Spanish nouns, verbs, descriptives or Practice all of them together, or add your own Spanish/English word.   I can go into learning Spanish by selecting one of my choices I have showed.   When I have selected one of my choices a Spanish word pops up.  I try to figure out what the word is and if I do or don’t, I click an icon that shows the word translated to English.  Now I know what that Spanish word means.  This helps me expand my Spanish vocabulary.  I also can keep track of Spanish or English words that are translated in a dictionary on the app.  All I have to do is click on the link, ADD YOUR OWN WORDS, and then two boxes pop up, one says word and one says word meaning.  Its like me making my own Spanish/English dictionary.  This helps me keep track of words I want to remember which can be very useful for someone learning Spanish.

4.
I believe that this cost is appropriate because it is only a dollar and it excercises your Spanish vocabulary and you can also make your own Spanish/English dictionary.

5.
There are not that many improvements on this app I could suggest.  But they could have a Spanish English dictionary on it so you could translate your own words that you would want or need to know.  This App could be appropriate for anyone who wants to try to speak Spanish better.  Anyone from middle school and up that wants to learn Spanish would find this app very useful.
