Sentence Builder by Michelle Russell
Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 7:49PM Grade Level: Elementary
Purpose: A
Program Functionality: A
Overall Educational Value: B+
Cost: $2.99
Overview: Sentence Builder helps elementary students construct grammatically correct sentences.
Recommendation: Sentence Builder is recommended for all elementary students. To begin this learning activity/ game students first enter their name along with what level they want to play. (Picture 1) Students use the dial with the different words to put together a sentence that matches the picture. (Picture 2) Once the student feels that the words create a grammatically correct sentence they touch the select button to see if they are correct. If they are incorrect a voice tells them to try again. If they are correct an animated graphic appears on the screen and the correct sentence is read. (Picture 3) The stats tab displays the number of attempts the student has made at each sentence/level. (Picture 4) This application is especially helpful for ESL students and those students that have difficulty forming grammatically correct sentences.
Other: Unfortunately, only one student may be entered at a time. It would be nice if multiple students could use the program at different times and it would keep track of individual student stats.
