Number Line App - Free as of 8/4/2009

Nice things are being said about the following "Number Line App". I tested it out (no students as it is summer) and it appears to be very interesting, clean, and useful. I would love to get a math teacher's perspective and some students feedback. It is currently free in the App store as of 8/4/2009 at 12:34 AM CST.

This app was developed as part of the Learning without boundaries challenge and was the winning selection:

Here is the official blurb from their press release:

Number Line is designed to help students learn about fractions, decimals and percentages. Students earn points by placing equivalent fractions, decimals, and percentages in correct sequence on a number line. The application features multiple levels of increasing difficulty.

Well congratulations ... We agree that there is a lot of potential here! Thanks to Edu_mac_nation for tweeting about this app.

Just Fractions - get a "free copy" today!

They have updated, "Just Fractions" with a new feature. It now allows you to calculate the least common denominator when doing fraction subtraction and addition. Additionally, here are some new updates to consider as well as they are being implemented because of user feedback:

June - new version will have the ability to do mixed whole number and fraction math. This feature was requested by a number of users in review comments on the app store. (this is complete, I'm just testing it now)

July - I plan to add another dimension to the program whereby it actually shows each step when you do a fraction problem, enhancing the educational value. I have had this request from a student user and I think it would be an excellent idea!

Please let me know if you would like a "free copy" of this application. We just ask that you write up a "review" for our site "IEAR.org". Just email Scott at scott@iear.org. We are working on a first come, first serve basis here!
