Apple TV may revolutionize the use of a teacher iPad in the classroom!

Apple TV and AirPlay may revolutionize classrooms.  The iPad could possibly disrupt a few more industries because of this basic improvement.  http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/airplay.html ... More info: http://theapple.tv/2011/06/08/mirror-ipad-apple-tv-in-ios5/  ... Gigaom calls this the Killer App: http://gigaom.com/apple/the-ipad-2s-killer-feature-is-hd-mirroring/

Directly from Apple:
With AirPlay, you can wirelessly stream what’s on your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to your HDTV and speakers via Apple TV. Or mirror your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S screen. That’s gonna go over big. With mirroring, what you see is what you show.  AirPlay Mirroring lets you share exactly what’s on your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S with everyone in the room. Stream web pages, spreadsheets, lessons, games, photos, videos, and more to your HDTV via Apple TV. Just double-click the Home button, swipe all the way to the right, and select AirPlay Mirroring. Zoom in and out and pause for applause. Rotate from portrait to landscape and your audience sees that, too. AirPlay does it all wirelessly, so you can work the room or sit comfortably among the crowd. If you see it, so can they.

Here is a possible parts list to consider that was put together by Tim Kamps need and the cables can be longer if needed.
  1. HDMI to VGA with Audio Converter $40:

  3. VGA with Audio cable $3:

  4. Apple TV $85 refurbished ($99 new):

When you have the ability to mirror your iPad wirelessly, there are several new and effective ways to utilize the iPad.  Use your iPad as a document camera!  Once you have your set up, you can explore the use of iMovie on the iPad, Board Cam, Doodle Buddy,  CollabraCam, etc.

There is so much potential with wireless AirPlay, iPad 2, and Apple TV.  Also, don't forget, imagine the amount of money that you can save by not purchasing Interactive Whiteboards and Document Cameras!

With the huge amount of very high quality educational apps being developed and sold for very low cost along with relatively easy setup, easy transport, easy to lock away securely, seems great :)
