Strange Sam - Outreach Program #2

Outreach ProgramAs mobile devices grow more ubiquitous, more children begin using them as educational and entertainment resources every year. The growth in the popularity of such devices sometimes occurs at the expense of more traditional children's media, like the paper-based picture book. However, we realize that these emerging technologies can be used to promote traditional media such as children's books and make them accessible to a wider audience than was possible previously.
While Strange Sam is centered around a highly original, compelling story and beautiful watercolor illustrations, it introduces several new features not found in traditional picture books. These features include an audio soundtrack comprised of background music and two narration options, illustrations that animate when the page is touched by the reader, and an automatic page turn feature for readers who may have difficulty turning the pages themselves.
In addition, Strange Sam is priced at a fraction of the cost of a traditional picture book. All of these features make Strange Sam more accessible to a greater number of children. We hope that interactive picture books like Strange Sam will promote literacy in children who prefer entertainment like cartoons and video games and make reading more accessible to children who found it challenging previously.
