My First ABC - Crosspost #5

Program overview posted at TheAppPodcast.com.

Program Functionality: B / The app is clean and easy to press the buttons but the applicaton images can hinder learning as mentioned in the purpose grade.

Purpose: B / As Jared points out in his review, the images don't translate very well. I agree that the J for jelly fish could have been easily confused with octopus. The quizzing portion doesn't really asses their spelling as much as it does the image recognition that the application has chosen for the letters.

Overall Educational Value: C / This app does have some nice data that can be pulled out of the application by a teacher, but the assessment doesn't necessarily assess what the teacher needs to know. If there were multiple images it might also become more useful.

Cost: $.99

Recommendation: We moderately recommend this app for personal use, but we are not recommending it for school use at this time.
