Kearns High School

http://icougars-khs.wikispaces.com/

One of the largest iOS implementations in the US. 1800 students and faculty using iPod Touches (students) and iPads (teachers).

Welcome to our 1:1 iPod Touch program called iCougars! The iCougars@KHS project seeks to increase student achievement of our high school students through a student-centered, one-to-one mobile technologies model by providing every student and staff member with personal access to a mobile computing device in a wireless environment. The mobility of these devices will allow staff and students to use them for learning both inside and outside of school, engaging a 21st century 24/7 learning environment. Mobile devices in class will enable students to engage in research, team projects, classroom activities, and academic coursework. Beyond the school campus the devices will remain in the hands of students, available for homework, email, extra-curricular activities, independent learning, and problem solving. Using the devices for formal class work as well as independent study and personal interests, students will gain not only immediate academic benefits but also valuable 21st century skills that will benefit them in their lives and careers. 1700 students and nearly 100 teachers are participating in the largest iPod Touch implementation to date.

The Webb School of Knoxville

http://thejournal.com/articles/2011/02/23/ipad-no-longer-optional.aspx

The Journal said,

"Beginning in the fall of 2011, students at The Webb School of Knoxville will be carrying more than just books and binders with them to school everyday. That's because the private K-12 school in Tennessee is making Apple iPads mandatory on campus and asking all students in fourth grade or higher to either buy or lease a device for the coming school year."

They say,

"Welcome to the iPod & iPad User Group Wiki

We welcome you to our wiki and blog for supporting iPod & iPad devices in education. Although our focus is K-12, many of the techniques should work for you at any level and with any number of devices. On the wiki side of this site are the deployment and management articles, and on the blog side, you will find the classroom activities (written primarily by teachers) where iPods are supporting achievement improvement for our students. We are posting as many help and how-to articles here as we can and as quickly as we can so you can continue to be successful using iPod devices in your classroom. Please let us know if there are more or different things that you would like to have included here."

D102  Illinois

From their site

Whether we're talking about iPods or iPads, e-book readers or smartphones, mobile technology is becoming an increasingly important part of our lives and the lives of our students. The computing and communications power contained in these compact devices holds great promise for supporting new kinds of learning activities. It would be very easy to jump in with both feet and begin to pursue all the wonderful, creative ideas we have; however, there are logistical considerations we must take into account. The Mobile Technology Study group was formed to be the scouting party, looking for examples of best practices wherever we can find them and reporting back. The group members will immerse themselves in the issues--reading lots, sharing lots, and helping us test things out, so that District 102 will be in a position to implement the right mobile tools in the right ways to support our students' learning.
